They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. Jill and Tommy must have a rather prosperous marriage ahead of them because this was certainly one of the wettest weddings I have ever photographed, and it was awesome! Jill’s parents Jim and Paula welcomed everyone into their newly built home near the river at Paradise Point. This is my second wedding down by the Missouri river this year. Jim was kind enough to give me the grand tour of Paradise Point’s golf course and the homes that surround it as we were scouting out locations for photos in the side by side.
Jennifer Cody and Heather got the entire bridal party looking fabulous as I photographed all the wedding details, including invitations, and flowers that were flown in from South America by Enjoy Flower Events. We had our fingers crossed that the rain would let up as we headed out for the first look, but there seemed to be no end in sight so we headed out with umbrellas in tow.
The bridal party was real troopers who toughed out the chilly wet weather for photos! Wedding photographers if you haven’t invested in a Movo Camera Cover yet I definitely suggest you pick one up! Certainly worth the $15! We finished up bridal party portraits and headed back to the house to dry off and warm up before the ceremony which was held in Jim and Paula’s back yard. Friends and family gathered around the tent with umbrellas as Jill’s boy’s Dale and Jake walked Jill halfway down the aisle to Jim. As the ceremony lead by Louie a friend of the couple there wasn’t a dry eye to with either Tommy or Jill. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with laughs, tears, and cheers!
After the ceremony guests were invited into the house to greet the couple and warm up before heading to Williston for the reception at the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Building. My second shooter Rachel and I headed up right away to photograph the reception space decorated bt Angie Dunbar with Stylish Events. I think my favorite part of the reception space was the cake table. Brenda Daniels with Pour Some Sugar Custom Cakes out of Ray, ND crafted a cake shaped like a stump complete with initials carved into it! Lemon, Chocolate, and Almond cupcakes flanked the cake on a raw wood table top being held up by whiskey barrels.
Part of the reason I loved this cake set up was the attention to detail in the design. White piping curtains and lights created a stunning backdrop. The table was pulled out far enough for the couple to stand between the cake and the backdrop creating a photo perfect cake cutting!
Jeff Nelson and the Music Machine kept the dance floor filled stopping only to let Josh Kehr friend of the groom perform! In all, it was a beautiful wedding. Thank you, Jill, Tommy, Dale, and Jake for allowing me to be part of such a special day for your family!
