When it comes time to add items to your wedding registry it can be hard to figure out what to actually put on the list. This can be especially hard if you already have a lot of the classic items and don’t need 2 toasters! Today I’m sharing some out of the box ideas for your wedding registry!
1. A Big External Hard Drive
You will have a lot of photos coming your way from your photographer but also from friends and family. You will also be taking tons of photos on your honeymoon and as you start your life together as husband and wife. It’s a good idea to back up those photos to an external hard drive. As a wedding photographer, I use these handy drives all the time. I get a new one each year for all my weddings, but I also do the same thing for my own family photos! I add photos from my phone onto the drive so if I ever dropped my phone in water or lost it in a pasture (only ever lost one phone! found it 6 years later in the pasture!) my photos would be backed up! For tips on how to organize photos in files check out this post here! Looking for a camera to add to your registry check out this post here for

2. Luggage
You will be jetting off to a honeymoon soon after your wedding why not get some new luggage that will last, to take on those trips! I absolutely love the bags that roll on all four wheels! This travel pro suitcase seems to check off all the boxes and even expandable in case you need to bring home some souvenirs from your trip!
3. Board Games
About a year ago we started a monthly game night with friends and it has been one of the best things ever for keeping up with friends as our we all have kids and our schedules get fuller and fuller. We meet the last Thursday of the month at our house and do a potluck dinner that everyone helps out with! When we were just married we would meet friends at the bar for drinks but as our families grew it was hard to line up babysitters and we wanted to include the kids so that is why we started the game nights! Here are a few games we have played!
Our favorite is Farkle for sure since the kids can play if they want! And it’s easy to jump in and out of if I need to pull something out of the oven or change a diaper!
4. Camping Gear
Camping gear is actually pretty pricy when it comes down to it! Here are some items you may want to add to your registry!
This Coleman tent is pretty large and has the ability to put up walls inside. Just because you’re ruffing it doesn’t mean you have to sleep on the hard ground an Air Mattress is a smart investment, you can use it for camping or when the inlaws come to visit! Don’t forget the pump! If your using a tent sleeping bags are definitely something to add to the registry as well!
We have this camping grill in blue! It has been perfect for grilling steaks, hamburgers, and hot dogs while out camping plus it fits in our camper really well or in the back of the pickup since it folds flat!
5. Quality bedding!
Did you know that you spend a THIRD of your life in your bed! It makes sense to invest in some quality sheets pillows and comforters if your spending that much time there! A little over 3 years ago I finally spent the money on a down comforter and my only regret was not doing it sooner! We absolutely love it! It has ties on the corners to keep a duvet cover from sliding all around, and has been perfect year around for us here in North Dakota! I love being able to switch out duvet covers with the season but always having the same comforter inside!
High-quality sheet sets are another great item to add to your wedding registry! If you’re spending that much time on your bed it’s smart to invest! I personly would keep them neutral so you can change out pillows with the seasons or as your design taste change!
6. Vacuum Cleaner! Living on the farm and ranch and having a greenhouse means we are tracking in a lot of dirt and mud into our house! From February until about June I am vacuuming constantly! I absolutely love my Roomba! I feel so put together when I leave the house and come back to a freshly vacuumed floor since we have our set up on a timer! This handheld Dyson is also one we are constantly using in our entryway, and upstairs!
7. Home Pod
If you are an Apple family like we are, it should come as no surprise that I bought Justin a HomePod for his birthday 2 years ago! We use this thing all the time! Setting timers, checking the weather, listening to AppleMusic, adding things to my grocery list, the list goes on! I love that we can use our apple music and not have any ads!
8. Trash Can
This might not be something you would think to add to your registry, but it is one of the most used items in your home! This is the trash can we have in our home and almost every time someone comes over they ask about it! The lid on top holds the bag in place so we never have to worry about it falling down. It’s covered so you don’t really see the trash but you don’t have to use a step to be able to toss things in! Plus the wheels are so handy for moving it out of the corner when we are hosting parties!
9. Gift Cards did you know you can add gift cards to your Amazon registry for anything from southwest airlines, and iTunes gift card, to hundreds of different restaurants! Great for planning those date nights after the wedding chaos dies down!
10. Honeymoon Fund
The site Zola, lets you create a registry that includes products from all over, and even lets your friends and family contribute to your honeymoon fund! This site is also a great resource when it comes to planning a wedding and can help with everything from addressing envelopes, keeping track of save the dates, to finding vendors!
