You wouldn’t wait to try your wedding dress on until the morning of your wedding, why would you wait until your wedding day to meet your photographer.  I can not stress enough the importance of having an engagement session with your photographer before wedding.  Your engagement session is like a trial run for your photographer before your wedding.  I as a photographer get a chance to see how you two function as a couple, without the pressure of the wedding day.

Don’t stress if you don’t have to

Wedding days are stressful but if we have worked together before even if its only once, you will feel 100% more comfortable in front of the camera compared to if we haven’t worked together yet.  

Smooth as butter Engagement session to the rescue

Even if you book your wedding photographer a little late, and you don’t have a lot of time to be able to use your engagement photos for something before the wedding, do the session! I offer a complimentary engagement session with ALL of my wedding packages. 90% of my couples use the session, and those weddings always run WAY smoother then couples who don’t take advantage of it.

Trust

Sometimes on shoots, I ask my couples to do some crazy things, like moving your chin a certain way, that feels really awkward at first.  Maybe I’ll ask you to hold each other and bounce around in a circle like you just won the lottery.  Your going to think I’m a crazy person if we haven’t done it before.  But if we do have an engagement session together then you will get to see just how amazing the images will turn out!

Worth it in the long run!

It’s not the end of the world if you can’t get an engagement session scheduled before hand, but if you can make it work it will be worth it on your wedding day. Plus engagement photos are awesome for things like save the dates, invites, and decor at the wedding.
